A Paralyzing Failure: The Dark Side of Medical Missteps In Tennessee, a 72 year old woman has been left paralyzed from the breastbone down after a drug mix up during routine procedures at Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown hospital.

State officials are investigating how this happened.

Glenda Dorton was supposed to receive bupivacaine as part of a spinal epidural but instead received an injection of potassium, which can cause severe muscle weakness and paralysis.
